Reliance Jio recently launched wireless 4G service in India. So far, the overall performance of Jio 4G has been mixed. Home Fiber (FTTH) : 1Gbps Speed Broadband Service
The company's biggest plan is based on its Fiber To The Home (FTTH) service, for which it started working a decade ago. Reliance has already established fiber optic cables in most parts of the country. You must have seen these enormous machines putting cables in the ground, these were the first days of Jio. Or you may have seen those man-like looks that have "RJIL" written on those.
With FTTH service, the company expects to bring a 1Gbps speed to wired broadband Internet in India. Sounds exciting, right? It is. Some earlier reports have also suggested that Jio is working on FTTH services. As we said, there is no specific timetable for that, but we anticipate it will be announced within the next six or seven months. And if the Jio 4G SIM plans and prices are an indicator, the broadband FTTH will be disturbing for the current market players.
The possibility of a speed of 1 Gbps opens as many doors to as many possibilities. With the connection, customers will receive a set-top box, an Android smartbox, which could be Nvidia Shield or something similar. And with such speed, it will promise 4K videos everywhere.
The set-top box for Jio TV also works as a router. And it will be able to connect 44 devices at once. The service Jio TV will offer 350 channels including about 50 in HD. The service will save all TV content for seven days. No, users will not have to worry about storage. All these shows and movies will be stored in a Jio server. That sounds fairly ambitious, but we will have a clearer picture over the next few months.
Reliance Jio broadband launch date
Reliance Jio broadband has been expanded effort for a while now, and there's no word on a commercial launch or wider availability of free samples yet
Reliance jio entered strongly competing against Airtel and Vodafone, among others in the 4G sector. The company is now looking to do the same in the broadband sector and one can expect that the company comes with competitive plans.
Similar to the Jio "Welcome Offer", the Reliance Jio broadband service is to be offered to users free of charge for three months. The catch here is that users will have to pay Rs. 4.500 for installation and router. After the end of the test phase, Reliance Jio will collect the router and refund the money if the user does not want to continue the broadband service.The report further mentions that the Reliance Jio broadband service during this period has a FUP limit of 100GB of data at full speed each month. Post the use of the data, the Reliance Jio broadband service the speed goes up to 1 Mbps. As of now, nothing is known about the nature of the Reliance Jio broadband plans that are available after the test period.
Smart Home Plan
The FTTH is not just about DTH and broadband services, it has a plan to move towards the internet of things in days to come. At the same time Jio plans to offer equipment to create an intelligent home. These equipments include security systems, motion sensors, doorbell with camera and speakers, fire detectors, smoke detectors and much more.
Public Wi-Fi
As Reliance Jio announced its Jio 4G tariffs, which contained some data rates under the Jio Public Wi-Fi. The company is already testing the Wi-Fi public in some parts of Mumbai. It will be provided shortly to other areas.
With public Wi-Fi, Reliance Jio expected to provide connectivity to its users 24/7. While users are connected to the Internet through the Jio SIM in a building, they will instantly connect with the public Wi-Fi as soon as they step in. Since the commercial tariff of January 1, 2017 will be active, we hope that up to then a plan.
Other Plans
Reliance Jio is planning to add more apps to My Jio service while improving existing ones. We will also see a connected drive module that has a small module that can be connected with the OBD connector (onboard diagnostics) on the dashboard. It offers Wi-Fi in the car along with many other controls offered to the user of the smartphone.
While all this sounds like a dream come true, we have our concerns about the speed. The speed of Jio fall since 5th September, 2016. Not to say that the speed of the 4G Jio is bad for all. But users have reported speeds fluctuate a lot. As soon as Reliance Jio's plans are served by an incredibly fast Internet, we'll wait and see how it all goes. For now it seems that "Achhe Din Aane Whale Hain", but to really see how good they are, we will have to wait a little longer.
Jio GigaFiber broadband service to Offer 500 GB Fast Internet at Rs 500
Reliance Jio continues its base for the fight against the powerful Airtel broadband in India, with its Jio GigaFiber broadband service. And it seems, for Rs 500, you can subscribe to a 15Mbps internet plan, with 500GB of data provided.
This service is currently available to consumers in Mumbai and Pune, but we expect more cities to be added in the coming months. The Jio GigaFiber is offered to users for 90 days (or 3 months) as part of the Jio Welcome Offer that this report proposes.

The plans of Rs 500 to 600 GB data limit unreal sound, but that is exactly what Jio intend to do to break the monopoly of the Airtel in this segment. These plans are still better than other private internet providers than excitable or SpectraNet.

A great point to note is that broadband Jio GigaFiber only work with its GigaFiber router, which according to JioCare, will cost between Rs 4000 and Rs 6000 (cost of one-time purchase).
That said, it would not be a bad idea to invest in the device, especially if the plans are affordable while you are giving fast internet speeds. We can hardly wait!
